Forecast calls for more heat today, thunderstorms possible
Forecasters say that this oppressive heat is going to continue through at least tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the real temperature is going to be in the low 90s again today but the humidity is going to make that feel like it is up to 103 during the hottest part of the day. Terre Haute saw a heat index of 110 degrees yesterday.
The heat advisory has been extended until 8 p.m. tonight. .
They say that the high temperatures have the potential to cause heat related illnesses. The weather service says that you should avoid strenuous activities outdoors, wear light clothing, make sure to drink plenty of water. You should also check in on family members and neighbors who might be vulnerable and never leave people or pets in a closed vehicle under these conditions.
