Early morning blaze destroys empty Columbus home
A northern Columbus home was a complete loss after an early morning fire Saturday morning.
The home was in the process of being remodeled and no one was at home at the time of the blaze, says Capt. Mike Wilson, spokesman for the Columbus Fire Department.
A passerby noticed the blaze in the 800 block of Rocky Ford Road at about 3:31 a.m. in the morning, reporting that the home was fully engulfed in flames. Arriving firefighters could see the flames all the way from Central Avenue. When firefighters arrived, a large section of the roof and wall had already collapsed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported at the scene. Damages to the vacant home are estimated at $160,000.
