Driver dies in State Road 3 crash

An Ohio man died in a head-on crash yesterday morning on State Road 3 in Decatur County.

According to Indiana State Police, the crash happened at about 6 yesterday morning north of Greensburg near County Road 300N, when a southbound SUV driven by 36-year-old Adam P. Peters of Morristown, Ohio crossed the centerline into the path of a northbound box truck, The two vehicles hit nearly head-on and then both ended up partially off the roadway.

Peters was pronounced dead at the scene by the Decatur County Coroner’s office. The driver of the box truck, 39-year-old Jamin E. Guthrie of North Vernon received minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but troopers say that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been a factor.
