Cummins’ Accelera to partner with India natural gas company
Cummins is announcing the start of a partnership with India’s leading natural gas company to work on green hydrogen and other zero emissions technologies in India.
According to the Columbus based engine manufacturer, a memorandum of understanding has been signed by Cummins Accelera brand with Gail (India) Limited to collaborate on projects. The company says that Accelera’s expertise in hydrogen generation technology will pair with Gail’s natural gas infrastructure. The companies plan to explore hydrogen production, blending, transportation and storage.
They will also look at hydrogen applications across multiple sectors including transportation, power and steel.
Alex Savelli, Global Commercial Leader of Electrolyzers for Accelera said the partnership will have the potential to “accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen across India.”
Electrolyzers separate water into it components, hydrogen and oxygen.
GAil commissioned its first green hydrogen plant in India in December, with Accelera supplying a 10-megawatt electrolyzer system that can produce 4.3 tons of green hydrogen per day. The hydrogen is then blended with GAIL’s natural gas to power the company’s on-site operations.
