CRH receives national endoscopy safety recognition

Columbus Regional Health is receiving a renewal of a nationwide recognition for quality and safety in endoscopy.

According to the hospital, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy recently granted Columbus Regional Health a three-year renewal recognition for quality and safety.

The society’s program recognizes endoscopy units that demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and quality. Those units must meet the program’s criteria, which includes following the society’s guidelines in areas including quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing, CDC infection control and endoscopy staff competency.

The peer-reviewed application process requires endoscopy units to attest to the competence of all staff, demonstrate the adoption of unit policies assessing performance against key quality indicators, and show that the unit’s dedication to infection control and prevention.
