Columbus to consider $1 million workforce grant to schools
Columbus City Council will be considering a $1 million workforce development grant to Bartholomew Consolidated Schools when the council meets Tuesday evening.
Last week, the Columbus Redevelopment Commission recommended approval of the grant application.
School Superintendent Jim Roberts made the presentation to the city last week, asking to continue a grant program that started in 2017. This year’s request included $330,500 for the i-Grad program, just over $267 thousand for transition planning and a bit over $402 thousand for Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics initiatives.
All redevelopment commission spending of more than $500,000 must be approved by City Council.
City Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Columbus City Hall.
