Body found along road; Authorities looking into death of missing Jennings County man

An investigation is underway after a young man’s body was found along State Road 3 in northern Jennings County Thursday.

According to reports from the Indiana State Police, an INDOT mowing crew found the body near the roadway near the Jennings/Decatur County line. Jennings County deputies and state troopers were called to the scene at about noon Thursday.

The man was identified as 27-year-old Joseph T. Gill of North Vernon. He had been reported missing about two days earlier.

A joint investigation by the Indiana State Police and Jennings County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing. Anyone with information about the investigation is urged to contact the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office.

State Road 3 was closed in the area for about two hours for the investigation.
