Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office Increasing Patrols for School Bus Arm Violations

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing patrols in the area in order to observe for drivers violating Indiana’s school bus stop arm laws. The Sheriff’s Office has teamed up with the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in order to increase safety and awareness for these violations. The extra deputies assigned to this detail is made possible by funding from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. The Sheriff’s Department wants to remind the public that not only is it a traffic infraction to pass a school bus while it’s stop arm extended and red lights flashing, but it could become a criminal misdemeanor or felony under the reckless driving statute, and you license can be suspended. Please slow down and observe for increased foot and vehicle traffic due to school going back to session.
