Arrests Made for Drug and Gun Charges

Two people were arrested in Columbus on Tuesday for drug and gun charges.

A car driven by Shawn Vanarsdale was pulled over by police as it was leaving a hotel on Columbus’ west side.

When police searched the car they found four pounds of marijuana and a gun.

Indiana State Police also searched the room Vanarsdale was staying in about found nearly a pound of meth, a scale and several glass pipes.

Both Vanarsdale and Nicole Spatola were arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Spatola is accused of possession, while Vanarsdale is accused of several dealing and possession charges.

The arrests were part of an investigation between the Columbus/Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team, Columbus Police Department and Indiana State Police into the sale of illegal drugs in Columbus and Bartholomew County.
