Several local counties would be among those to receive funds under disaster assistance announced this week by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

President Trump touted the state would receive more than $15 million to assist those affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding from March 30th through April 9th. Locally, organizations in Bartholomew, Brown and Decatur counties would be able to receive assistance to help with the costs of emergency work and repair or replace facilities damaged in the severe weather.

The president announced the funds on a Truth Social post this week, praising Gov. Mike Braun and said he knows the state will make a quick recovery. Trump also touted that he won Indiana BIG in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

Joseph P. Cirone has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
