Edinburgh woman arrested in thefts from store

An Edinburgh woman is being accused of burning price tags off items at the eastside Columbus Walmart and then stuffing the products into a bag.

34-year-old Jennifer L. Durbin was arrested at the Whitfield Drive store after Columbus police were called there at about 5 Sunday afternoon. Police say Durbin was using a small butane torch to burn off the price tags.

As she attempted to leave the store with the merchandise, she was intercepted by officers and store security. Police report that she tried to kick and punch officers.

She is facing charges of resisting arrest and theft with a prior conviction.

The merchandise was valued at about $100.
