Keystone Cooperative Acquires Full Ownership of Whitesville Fertilizer Hub
Keystone Cooperative, Inc., a leading agricultural and energy co-op in Indiana, has officially acquired full ownership of the Whitesville Fertilizer Hub in west-central Indiana. The move marks the end of a 14-year joint venture between Keystone (and its predecessor organizations) and CHS Inc.
The acquisition, completed on August 29, 2025, gives Keystone full control over operations and procurement at the facility, which serves farmers within a 35-mile radius. The hub has a 34,000-ton dry fertilizer capacity and 22,500-ton liquid fertilizer capacity.
“This agreement with CHS demonstrates the strength of cooperatives working together to improve the entire system,” said Kevin Still, President and CEO of Keystone Cooperative. “We’re thankful for our long-standing partnership with CHS and look forward to future collaboration that benefits farmers in our region.”
Strategically located between the former service areas of Co-Alliance and Ceres Solutions—which merged in early 2024 to form Keystone—Whitesville has quickly become a central asset in the co-op’s strategy to streamline operations and boost member value.
“This sale is a great example of co-ops building something stronger together,” said John Griffith, Executive Vice President of CHS Ag Business and CHS Hedging. “It reinforces the supply chain, supports local farmers, and strengthens the broader ag community.”
By assuming full control of the Whitesville Hub, Keystone continues to advance its mission of delivering efficient, localized, and scalable service to Midwest agriculture.
