Shooting at Nevada casino resort leaves at least 3 dead, multiple people injured; suspect in custody

At least three people were killed, several others were injured and a suspect was in custody after a shooting at a casino in Reno, Nevada, authorities said.
Reno police responded to an active shooter report at Grand Sierra Resort around 7:25 a.m. local time, the department told Fox News Digital.
Within 2.5 minutes, authorities said officers located the suspect and a shootout occurred. The unidentified suspect was taken to a hospital, according to police, though no update on his condition or identity was immediately available. Police said there was no threat to the public.

Police, Reno Fire and casino employees all rushed to help multiple victims, each of whom had varying levels of injuries, authorities said.
No details about the number of people injured or the severity of their injuries were immediately available as police said they are still working to account for everyone.

Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo said his office was aware of the shooting and was monitoring the situation. The Nevada Department of Public Safety was assisting local authorities, he said.
“While we wait for more information, please join me and Donna in praying for the victims and their families and for our brave first responders,” he wrote on X.

The Sparks Police Department will investigate the officer-involved shooting, Reno authorities said. Authorities said further updates were expected later Monday.
