Ohio warehouse shooting suspect at large after 1 killed, 5 injured: police

One person is dead and several others are wounded after a shooting at a cosmetic manufacturing plant in Ohio, police say.

The city of New Albany, Ohio, posted on its website that police responded to an “active shooter situation” at the KDC/One manufacturing plant just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities have now launched a manhunt for the suspect, identified as Bruce Reginald Foster III. He is described by the New Albany Police Department as being “6-feet tall, weighing 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.”

“This is a heartbreaking and tragic situation. Our officers, alongside multiple agencies, responded swiftly to protect lives and secure the scene,” New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones said in a statement. “We train for situations like this, and while it is something no community ever wants to face, we were prepared to act quickly and effectively. We will continue working to bring this situation to a full resolution.”

The facility where the shooting happened produces “value-added solutions to many of the world’s leading brands in the beauty, personal care, and home care categories,” according to the plant’s website.

Details on the incident were limited, but the city confirmed one person was killed and five others were taken to local hospitals with unknown conditions.

New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones said he cannot say if the suspect was an employee at the plant or not, and that it appears to have been a “targeted attack” without a motive, at the moment.

Police don’t believe the community is under any threat, the city said in a Wednesday morning update.

Jones also said a firearm was recovered from the scene.

An update posted to the city website at around 2:30 a.m. said officers were finishing evacuating employees from the building. Jones said approximately 150 people were evacuated to a neighboring building.
