Two people arrested after Bartholomew drug-dealing investigation

An investigation into narcotics dealing in Columbus led to the arrest of two people this week.
According to the Columbus Police Department, the Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team had information that 67 year old Jami Martin had been dealing drugs out of his home in the 5100 block of West Ohio Ridge Road. On Tuesday, they stopped his vehicle near U.S. 31 and Interstate 65. A search allegedly found methamphetamine in his pocket. He was taken into custody, as well as a passenger, 50-year-old Michelle Jessie of Columbus. Police found that she was carrying marijuana and a search at the jail also revealed she had methamphetamine.
A search of Martin’s home recovered more methamphetamine along with marijuana.
Martin is facing charges of:
- Dealing methamphetamine, a level 2 felony
- Possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony
- Dealing marijuana, a level 6 felony
- Possession of marijuana, a B misdemeanor
- Possession of paraphernalia, a C misdemeanor

Jessie is being accused of:
- Possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony
- Possession of paraphernalia, a C misdemeanor
The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team is a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office. It targes the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in the community.
