Unusually dry conditions remain in forecast

Forecasters say that dangerously dry conditions are continuing across Indiana this week and we could see the local drought levels increase in severity.

Despite recent rain, Bartholomew County remains in an abnormally dry, or D0 drought level, according to the county Emergency Management Agency. If these dry conditions persist, the county could be moved to the D1 or moderate drought category.

Rain isn’t in the forecast until possibly Saturday and Sunday. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis says that the relative humidity will drop in the afternoons through Friday to the 25 to 35 percent range, which will bring an elevated fire threat.

They say that the afternoon conditions could make outdoor fires more likely.
