Braun says keeping young Hoosiers here will solve workforce problems
Gov. Mike Braun says the key to finding workers will be to encourage young Hoosiers to stay in their communities.
The governor spoke this week at a fireside-chat style discussion organized by the Jackson County Chamber. The session was led by Chamber director Dan Robison who questioned the governor on topics affecting Jackson County businesses and economic development.
Robison asked the governor how the state could bring resources to bear to help with obstacles such as labor shortages.
Braun said that the key to workforce development involves having higher education focus on the needs of Indiana businesses. He said that too many kids start college but drop out, or earn degrees that have no application here in Indiana, leading them to leave the state. And he said that higher education costs continue to rise.
The event was held at the Copper Top Tuesday.
