Seymour, Jackson County partner with ICE for arrests
Seymour police and Jackson County deputies took part in an operation with federal officials Monday that led to the arrest of 11 illegal immigrants with criminal records for serious violent crimes and outstanding warrants.
According to Seymour Police, the operation was initiated by the FBI. They say that this is part of an ongoing initiative to remove dangerous offenders from communities and strengthen public safety. Local authorities coordinated, planned, and shared intelligence with federal partners including ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations agents.
The operation targeted those charged with or convicted of serious violent crimes including drugs, child molesting, sexual battery, strangulation and domestic violence, police say. Some of those arrested have already been deported more than once.
No arrests were made at schools or businesses and any children at the targeted residences remained with a parent or guardian.
Those arrested were taken into federal custody and are subject to deportation.
