Local and State Police Increasing Impaired Driving Patrols Ahead of Labor Day Holiday

Indiana State Police are planning on increasing patrols and impaired driving enforcement over the next few weeks ahead of the Labor Day holiday.

From August 16th through August 30th, officers will increase patrols and conduct sobriety checkpoints as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over national enforcement campaign, led by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In 2024, nearly 14% of all traffic fatalities in Indiana involved alcohol, and more than 35% of fatalities involved drug impairment, according to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.

Motorists are encouraged to make transportation plans before consuming alcohol.

If you see a suspected drunk driver on the road, safely pull over and contact law enforcement.
