Olympians and Panthers Battle the Fairways at New Albany Invite

The rolling hills of Floyds Knobs provided a true test of skill on Saturday as the Columbus East Olympians and Jennings County Panthers teed it up at the New Albany Invitational. Columbus East kept their composure on the course, posting a team total of 438 for an 11th-place finish in a competitive field. Emma Gill led the charge with a 107, showing steady play from the opening tee to the closing green. Amaylie Walsh was right on her heels with a 108, while Abby King carded a 111 to keep the Olympians’ scorecard looking solid. Sofia Perez contributed a 112, and Calleigh Gill rounded out the day with a 120, helping East hold their position on the leaderboard.
For the Jennings County Panthers, it was all about staying in the hunt. Grace Oden set the pace for the blue and white, clawing her way to a team-best 103. The Panthers’ collective effort earned them a 13th-place finish at 453, showing they could hang tough in a challenging invitational.
With more tee times on deck today — including East visiting Batesville, Columbus North hosting Perry Meridian, Hauser and Morristown heading to Southwestern, and Jennings County traveling to Floyd Central — local squads will be looking to keep their swings sharp and their scorecards low.
