Power Surges to Victory, Palou Locks Up INDYCAR Crown at Portland

The scenic twists of Portland International Raceway set the stage for a day of INDYCAR drama, and both Will Power and Alex Palou seized their moments in the spotlight. Power, piloting the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, stormed to his first win of the season — and more importantly, delivered Team Penske its first victory of 2025, avoiding the team’s first winless campaign since 1999.
Starting from third and leaning on an aggressive tire strategy, Power built a commanding lead before navigating late-race pressure from Christian Lundgaard and Palou. He held firm, crossing the line just over a second ahead of Lundgaard in a thrilling final dash.
For Palou, the third-place finish was more than enough to clinch his fourth career INDYCAR SERIES championship and his third consecutive title, cementing his status among the sport’s elite. Joining legends like Ted Horn, Sebastien Bourdais, and Dario Franchitti in the rare three-peat club, Palou also matched Mario Andretti’s career championship total.
With two oval races left, including the upcoming Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250, both champions and challengers will be looking to close the season in high gear.
