Whiteland and Greenfield Edge Out East on the Links
Columbus East’s girls’ golf team hit the fairways Thursday afternoon in Franklin for a tri-match against Whiteland and Greenfield-Central. While the Olympians came ready to swing, it was Whiteland who took home the bragging rights with a team score of 222. Greenfield-Central just managed to slip past East by three strokes, 228–231, to secure second place.
Abby King and Emma Gill each led the Orange-and-Brown with rounds of 52, showing steady play despite some tricky greens at The Legends. Amaylie Walsh added a 62, while Calleigh Gill and Sofia Perez each carded 65s to round out the scorecard.
Though East left Franklin in third place, the team showed flashes of form that could pay off in bigger invites down the road. With a few more birdie putts dropping, the Olympians could be right in the hunt for their next event.
