Panthers’ Athletic Program Welcomes Back Familiar Leader

North Vernon, Ind. — The Jennings County Panthers have found a new captain for their athletic ship — though he’s no stranger to the program. Joe Hartwell, who guided the Panthers boys basketball team from 2012 to 2016, is returning to the fold as the school’s new athletic director.
Hartwell’s coaching résumé also includes stints at South Decatur in 2005–06 and 2009–10. He steps into the role following Cory Stevens’ departure for an administrative position in the Chicago suburbs.
For Jennings County, Hartwell’s hire blends familiarity with fresh leadership — a combination Panther Nation hopes will keep the program prowling toward continued success.
