Colts’ Preseason Opener Marred by Richardson Injury

It was supposed to be a night for Anthony Richardson Sr. to get valuable preseason reps under center. Instead, it became a reminder of how quickly the game can turn. The Colts’ young quarterback dislocated the pinkie on his throwing hand during the first quarter of Thursday’s preseason opener in Baltimore, exiting after being sacked by the Ravens’ David Ojabo.
Richardson is listed day-to-day, but the setback could alter the team’s preseason quarterback rotation. Daniel Jones took over and went 10-for-21 for 144 yards, while Riley Leonard closed the game with 92 passing yards and an interception.
Indianapolis fell 24-16, but the bigger story will be how quickly Richardson can grip the football again. Colts fans will be hoping the injury is just a preseason speed bump on the road to the regular season.
