Lowland flooding possible after heavy rains overnight

Forecasters are warning of the chance of flooding following heavy rain overnight.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis issued a flood advisory early this morning for much of our area, saying that excessive rainfall could lead to minor flooding in low-lying areas or those with poor drainage. Between one and a half and three and a half inches of rain fell overnight in some places. The affected area includes Bartholomew, Jackson and Jennings counties.

Officials say that most flood deaths occur in vehicles. They say that when you come across a flooded roadway you should turn around and don’t drown. You should never drive around flood barricades or warning signs.
