‘Crimson Tide’ Sequel In The Works, Says Producer Jerry Bruckheimer
Thirty years after the release of the acclaimed film Crimson Tide, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that he is developing a sequel. During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, Bruckheimer shared that he has a “really good director and writer” currently in discussions with the Navy about the film’s underwater nuclear-themed premise. Bruckheimer suggested that Denzel Washington, who starred in the original as the idealistic executive officer, may be convinced to reprise his role if the script is strong enough. However, Bruckheimer acknowledged the challenges of recapturing the magic of the first film, which boasted a writing team that included legendary filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Robert Towne, as well as the late director Tony Scott. The development of Crimson Tide 2 remains in its early stages, with no finalized screenplay or confirmed cast as of yet. (Variety)
