Reds Rally Late to Burn Tigers, De La Cruz Dazzles Again
Elly De La Cruz keeps swinging for the fences—and making contact. The rising star homered for the fourth straight game and added three RBIs in the Reds’ 8-4 come-from-behind win over Detroit on Sunday.
Cincinnati trailed 4-2 in the eighth before the Tigers imploded with three errors and a wild pitch that opened the floodgates. De La Cruz delivered the go-ahead RBI single and then iced it with a two-run homer in the ninth. The Reds scored six unanswered runs to finish the game and complete a strong 4-2 road trip.
With a .462 average over that stretch, De La Cruz is quickly becoming must-see TV. Cincinnati returns to Great American Ballpark Tuesday night to open a three-game set against the Twins, with ace Andrew Abbott set to take the mound.
