Bull Dogs Bite Comes Up Just Short in Pitching Duel

Columbus North’s baseball squad went toe-to-toe in a tight pitching battle Wednesday but fell 1-0 to Floyd Central in a classic pitcher’s duel under the lights in Floyds Knobs.
The only blemish came in the second inning when the Highlanders scratched across the game’s lone run. The Bull Dogs had their chances but couldn’t capitalize.
Brock Kintner doubled as part of a 2-for-3 night, continuing his steady production at the plate. On the mound, Javier Uscanga started and allowed just four hits and a single run in two innings. Kintner and Lane Schrader took over in relief and were nearly perfect, combining for four shutout innings to keep North within striking distance.
With solid pitching and a defense that held strong, Columbus North will aim to clean up the bats in their upcoming matchup against Southport.
