Columbus North Boys Volleyball Falls to Red Devils in Five-Set Heartbreaker
The Columbus North boys volleyball team came out strong Thursday night, winning the first two sets against Jeffersonville, but the Red Devils stormed back to take the match in five: 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19, 15-10.
North played nearly flawless volleyball early, controlling tempo and executing cleanly to build a two-set lead. But Jeffersonville made key mid-match adjustments, turning up the intensity and capitalizing on North’s miscues in the final three frames.
Leo Iorio led the Bull Dogs with 18 kills and 21 digs. Yuta Kondo also delivered a standout effort, tallying 13 kills. Defensively, Noah Dornfeld and Juan Jose Salcedo Calderon each recorded three blocks, and Parth Shah added five digs. Setter Kota Kondo served three aces and notched seven digs.
Columbus North falls to 4-9 and will regroup for a competitive Saturday at Lawrence North, where they will take on the host Wildcats, Harrison, and Homestead.
