North Track Teams Fall to Panthers Despite Stellar Individual Efforts
Columbus North opened their outdoor track season at Bloomington South, where the Panthers edged out the Bull Dogs in both meets—84-34 in the boys and 63-55 in the girls.
Distance specialist Jace Works lived up to his name, running away with wins in the 1,600 (4:19.85) and 800 (1:58.52). Owen Russell added a sprint of his own with a strong showing in the 110-meter hurdles (15.76).
For the girls, it was a balance of power and finesse. Sierra Newell vaulted over the bar at 9 feet to win pole vault, while Emma Haston cleared 5-3 in the high jump. Hurdles belonged to Emerson Chambers (15.30 in the 100) and Natalie Rohm (51.42 in the 300). Middle-distance star Carys Glyn-Jones clocked 2:21.23 in the 800 for the win.
