Pride Baseball Drops Lead—and Game—at IU Kokomo

The IU Columbus baseball team had the early momentum Tuesday, but an eight-run seventh inning from IU Kokomo turned a tight contest into a runaway 16-6 defeat for the Crimson Pride.
After building a 6-4 lead through three-and-a-half innings, IUC’s bullpen couldn’t hold the line. Aiden Thompson, the second of four pitchers used, took the loss after Kokomo’s bats came alive in the middle innings.
Lucas Slager led the offense with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, including a double and two RBIs. But the Pride couldn’t recover from Kokomo’s fourth-inning rally that flipped the game, and the seventh-inning outburst sealed their fate.
Now sitting at 9-28 overall and 2-13 in River States Conference action, the Crimson Pride will return to action at CERAland with a three-game home stand against Shawnee State, beginning with a single game Friday at 1 p.m. and a Saturday doubleheader.
