Weather spotter training returns with virtual sessions

Emergency preparedness officials say that the National Weather Service in Indianapolis is resuming its weather spotter training sessions, although they are going completely virtual.

According to the agency, as of March 1st, all in-person trainings were suspended.

The trainings last about two hours and you will learn how to interpret cloud structures and radar images associated with severe weather.

The next virtual session will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The training is free and individual registration is required, even if you attend as a group. Those who attend will receive those s a certificate of completion.
