Columbus Icemen Capture 2A State Championship
After falling short in last year’s state finals, the Columbus Icemen completed their redemption arc, capturing the 2A State Championship with a 4-2 win over Adams. Columbus stormed through the bracket, defeating Lake Central Blue (7-1), Bloomington (4-0), and Westfield (5-0) enroute to the finals.
In the championship game, Lane Barringer was rock solid in goal, while Drew Weed, Carter Greene, and Tyson Tyner found the back of the net to deliver the program’s third state title. It’s a well-earned victory for a team that left no doubt they were the best in Indiana high school hockey this season.
