Columbus East Boys Basketball: Perfect Start Continues
Olympians Hold Off Bedford North Lawrence The Columbus East Olympians secured a hard-fought 55-49 victory over Bedford North Lawrence in their Hoosier Hills Conference opener on Friday.
The Olympians nearly let a 20-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter but held on thanks to Keaton Lawson, who scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and added five steals. Lawson’s leadership was crucial as East navigated late-game adversity.
East Outpaces Franklin
On Saturday, the Olympians improved to 5-0, their best start since 2006-07, with a 64-50 win over Franklin. Lawson again led the team with 24 points, while Danny Coriden chipped in with 16, including five three-pointers. East’s defensive adjustments at halftime proved pivotal, limiting Franklin to just 10 third-quarter points.
With rivalry week approaching, East will aim to keep their unbeaten streak alive when they face Columbus North on December 20th in a much-anticipated showdown.
