Richards Raiders Sweep EBL Championships Gold Brackets

The Richards Raiders dominated the Elementary Basketball League Championships, claiming both the boys’ and girls’ Gold Bracket titles on Saturday at Columbus East High School’s Orange Pit.
In the boys’ championship, Richards cruised past Mt. Healthy, 46-20, thanks to a stellar performance from Sam Dixson, who poured in 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Riley Russell added six points and 10 rebounds, while Rory Gill contributed six points and nine boards. The Raiders’ tough defense and disciplined offense were too much for Mt. Healthy to handle.
The girls’ championship was a nail-biter, as Richards edged Southside in overtime, 20-15Karolin Voelz hit the game-tying shot in the final seconds of regulation and scored seven points in overtime to secure the victory. Voelz finished with nine points and nine rebounds, while Lillyann Voland and Ella Gonzalez stepped up with key defensive stops. The Raiders showcased resilience, rallying after a late surge from Southside.
In the Silver BracketsCSA Lincoln captured the boys’ title, and Schmitt took home the girls’ crownCSA Lincoln also swept the cheerleading competition, with Southside finishing second and Smith taking third.
