Olympians Start Strong, Fall to Bloomington North
The Columbus East girls’ basketball team came out with energy and focus Tuesday night, forcing turnovers and building an early lead against Bloomington North. However, the Cougars regrouped and took control of the game, defeating the Olympians 71-44.
Columbus East showed flashes of improvement, particularly in the first quarter, where they led by as many as six points. Kimberly Carothers led the team with 15 points and four rebounds, while Lola Watkins contributed 10 points. Freshman Lucy Ross also stepped up with five points and three rebounds off the bench, showcasing her potential as a key contributor.
Despite the loss, the Olympians continue to make strides with a young and short-handed roster. Injuries and limited numbers have forced East to adapt, with several JV players stepping into varsity roles. The team remains focused on development and consistency as they look to turn their effort into results.
