Columbus North Girls Wrestling Hosts Historic Dual Meet

The Columbus North girls’ wrestling team made history Tuesday night, hosting its first-ever dual meet. However, the visiting Jennings County Panthers stole the spotlight, dominating the evening with victories over both Seymour (48-24) and Columbus North (66-6).
The Panthers showcased their depth and strength across multiple weight classes, with eight wrestlers finishing the night undefeated. Sasha Hicks (115 lbs), Violetta Hilario (120 lbs), Jada Duley (135 lbs), Karli Ledbetter (140 lbs), Karherin Brunner (145 lbs), Savannah Young (155 lbs), Gabby Hernandez (170 lbs), and Natalie Hadley (190 lbs) each posted a perfect 2-0 record.
Columbus North had standout moments as well, with Vika Konovalenko (125 lbs) leading the Bull Dogs by going 2-0. Arabella Fortino (145 lbs), Mia Hernandez (155 lbs), and Fatima Aguilar (235 lbs) each recorded a win on the night, while Reggie Holguin (155 lbs) and Aubreigh Campbell (170 lbs) showed grit with 1-1 records.
The night marked a significant step for Columbus North’s growing girls’ wrestling program. While the results favored Jennings County, the Bull Dogs gained invaluable experience and look forward to building on this momentum as the season progresses.
