United Way kicks off annual campaign with Live United events
The United Way of Bartholomew County is kicking off its annual campaign today but in more than fundraising goals, the agency is focusing on the need to lift up the 1 in five children in Bartholomew County who are living in poverty.

Pillar, spokeswoman for the agency explains that recent Census numbers revealed that a fifth of the children in the community lives in poverty, and it is important for the United Way to lead in lifting those children up.
The United Way in Bartholomew County supports 17 local agencies, focusing on Financial Stability, Education and Health.
Kick-off events start today with a proclamation from the mayor at City Hall this morning and a poverty simulator from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Columbus Municipal Airport. There will be a kickoff luncheon Thursday from 11 to 1 a.m. at Amazing Joes Grill and Friday is the United Way’s Annual Day of Service.
