Severe storms left path of destruction in Indiana, Ohio
Yesterday’s strong storms left a trail of destruction through parts of Indiana and Ohio.
The afternoon’s severe thunderstorm warnings in our area and a tornado watch across all of southern Indiana, turned to a tornado warning in Rush County. At 4:30 p.m. emergency management officials confirmed a tornado over Rushville moving east at 25 mph.
The National Weather Service reported at the time that a tornado was threatening mostly rural areas of the county. The Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department in Rush County was damaged by the storm, as were two homes. There are no reports of any injuries.
The National Weather Service has not confirmed the tornado touchdown.
In Ohio, part of a Meijer retail distribution center near Tipp City was destroyed when it was hit by an apparent tornado that crossed over Interstate 75 Wednesday evening.
