Two arrested after drug overdose reported at Columbus home

Two men were arrested after an overdose was reported at a Columbus home early this morning.

Police are reporting that when they arrived at the home in the 800 block of Reed Street at about 12:15 this morning they ran into 24 year-old Jared D. Evans. Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department, says that Evans had overdosed earlier, but was uncooperative with police and tried to flee the scene. When he was taken into custody, police allegedly found syringes and drug paraphernalia in his pockets. Evans is facing preliminary charges of Possessing of a Syringe, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Battery on an Officer, Resisting Law Enforcement and Visiting a Common Nuisance.

After a search warrant was executed at the home, police reported finding more drugs and paraphernalia. They say the renter of the home, 22-year-old Josh R. Irvin, was also taken into custody on preliminary charges of

Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Syringe and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
