Curated by Stephanie Buhmann in Collaboration with Jennifer Riley. The group exhibition IN CONVERSATION is inspired by a series of interviews with female artists, which were conducted by the art historian Stephanie Buhmann between January 2013 and December 2015. Looking for an approach beyond the mainstream media coverage of the art market, Buhmann visited the artists in their studios. The conversations she conducted in these intimate spaces of artistic practices focus on process, philosophy, personal history, art historic contexts and aesthetics among others. IN CONVERSATION is sparked by these interviews and helps to illustrate them. Though all of the artists featured are based in New York, they are working in different media and styles, reflecting some of the eclectic concerns and methods found in the city’s contemporary art world today. “The Voice” runner-up, Emily Ann Roberts, will be performing live at the Mitchell Opera House on April 22nd at 7:00 PM! Emily Ann Roberts is a 17 year old singer/songwriter/musician. Growing up in East Tennessee Emily Ann has been influenced by a wide variety of music. Her true love lies in the old country sounds mixed with gospel and bluegrass influences. She has been described as having an “old soul” because of her love for vintage country and her unique ability to give it a modern day sound. Emily Ann’s most recent achievement was placing runner up on season 9 of “The Voice”. During her time on the show, she had the opportunity to perform with Blake Shelton and Ricky Skaggs and was mentored by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton. 13th Annual Run for the Ivy 5K/10K

Ivy Tech Community College Columbus will host its 13th annual Run for the Ivy 5K/10K on Saturday, April 22, 2017.  The event will begin outside Poling Hall, the main Ivy Tech building, 4475 Central Avenue, Columbus.  The run is an event for everyone, with proceeds used for Ivy Tech scholarships and programs. The entry fee is $15 to $25. The free Kids Fun Run begins at 10:30 AM.  Sign-up for the children will be available at the race.  Every child is a winner and will receive a ribbon for participating.  Childcare and activities for children ages two and up will begin at 8:30 AM on race day for children whose parents or caregivers are participating in the 5K run.  The cost for this service is $5 per child. Registered participants may pick up their race packet at Ivy Tech from noon until 5:00 PM on Friday, April 21st.  On race day, packet pick-up will start at 8:00 AM. The women’s auxiliary of Mitchell’s First Church of God and NATHAN’S FIGHT are excited to be hosting a NATHAN’S FIGHT Fundraiser on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds (750 West 200 South, Columbus, IN 47201).  This event is being put together to offset the cost for Nathan Bell’s pending Kidney Transplant and to raise the awareness of the importance of being an organ donor.  Nathan Bell had attended Cowan High School in Muncie, IN before moving to Mitchell, IN, where he graduated from Mitchell High School in 2010.  Nathan is currently a resident in Columbus, IN and unfortunately found out about his failing kidneys while getting things arranged for his marriage this past October 1st. Play to win themed baskets in the Fun Jar Roulette (think Family Fun Jars, but for grown-ups) to bid on an expanded selection of silent auction items, and to take part in our 50/50 raffle.
